Compare ecommerce platforms
How StoreBaze compares with Shopify, Wix, Squarespace and BigCommerce.
An honest look at where StoreBaze fits and where another platform may suit you better. This is our own comparison: the other platforms' details come from their official pricing pages, checked October 30, 2026. Plans change, so check each site before you decide.
StoreBaze
What's different about StoreBaze.
The AI-native commerce platform for emerging and growing product brands.
Free to start, not a trial
Launch costs $0 a month for as long as you stay on it. You pay a platform fee only when you make a card sale, and Scale removes that fee for a monthly price.
Your first store, designed for you
Answer a few questions and StoreBaze AI picks a theme and writes your first pages, usually in under a minute. One AI storefront design is included with every store, and you review it before it goes live.
Every feature on both plans
Your own domain, email marketing, abandoned-cart reminders, promo codes, staff accounts and analytics are on Launch as well as Scale. The plans differ in price, platform fee, product limit, and AI and email allowances.
Made for Canada and the US
Prices in Canadian or US dollars, a store that sells in CAD or USD, and sales tax by province or state at checkout.
Side by side
The main differences at a glance.
How each platform lets you start, what it adds to card processing on its entry plan, and what its AI does to build your store.
| Platform | A free way to sell online | Free trial | Fees on top of card processing (entry plan) | AI store creation |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| StoreBaze | Yes. Launch is $0 a month, not a trial. | Not needed: Launch is free. | Launch: 1.5% + US$0.30 on a USD sale, or 1.5% + CA$0.45 on a CAD sale, per card sale. Scale: 0%. Payments run through your own Stripe account. | AI picks a theme and writes your home, about, FAQ and contact pages at sign-up, and builds page sections on request. |
| Shopify(official pricing page, opens in a new tab) | No free plan for an online store. A $0 Agentic plan covers selling in AI channels. | 3 days, then $1 a month for 3 months. | None with Shopify Payments; 2% on the Basic plan with a third-party payment provider. | A store from a prompt or a template, and the Sidekick AI assistant. |
| Wix(official pricing page, opens in a new tab) | The free plan does not list accepting payments or selling online. | A 14-day money-back guarantee on paid plans. | Not stated on the plans page. | An AI website builder that creates a site from a single prompt. |
| Squarespace(official pricing page, opens in a new tab) | No. Selling needs a paid plan. | 14 days. | 2% on online store sales on the Basic plan; 0% on Core and above. | Built-in AI tools for generating content. |
| BigCommerce(official pricing page, opens in a new tab) | No free plan listed. | 15 days. | None with its embedded payment providers; 2% on the Core plan with an open payment provider. | AI tools offered as separate products; none listed in its plan pricing. |

Choosing well
When another platform may suit you better.
StoreBaze is not the right fit for every business today.
You ship orders across the country or abroad
StoreBaze currently fulfils orders through pickup and local delivery. If you need carrier shipping today, a platform with built-in shipping, such as Shopify (shipping labels are included on all its plans), will serve you better.
Your business is outside Canada and the US
StoreBaze is available to businesses based in Canada or the United States.
You mostly sell in person
If a point-of-sale system for a physical shop is central to your business, look at Square or Shopify’s point of sale.
You run a large or enterprise catalogue
Scale holds up to 5,000 products. Shopify Plus and BigCommerce’s Performance plan are built for high-volume and enterprise businesses.
You mainly need a website, not a store
If your site is mostly content, a portfolio or bookings with a small shop on the side, a general website builder such as Wix or Squarespace may suit you better.
StoreBaze is a good fit if you want to:
- start free and pay only when you sell, then move to a 0% platform fee
- launch with a store designed for your brand rather than a blank template
- sell in Canadian or US dollars with sales tax handled at checkout
- keep products, orders, payments and email marketing in one admin
